Any company manager, supervisor or presidents knows that that the base
for a successful business are happy and motivated employees. A pleasant
office environment and good employer-employee relations can make any
company soar as long as they are maintained. Employee giveaways are a
great way to thank hard-working employees and motivate them on a daily
basis.
Small office-related items are both appropriate and useful and let your
employees know that you regularly say “thank you” for a job well done.
Personalized pens, picture frames, calendars and other items are
inexpensive and appreciated. For special occasions, such as a birthday or record sales day, a more large-scale, group-oriented gift might be more appropriate, such as a company-funded meal or movie passes. Everyone can enjoy these things and employees will have the opportunity to mingle with management and amongst themselves at group function, further cementing the good relationships within the company.
Drawing and raffles are other good examples of employee giveaways.
While they are a bit more expensive, they can also be perks received from clients that are shared by the workers. A client may offer a
complimentary hotel stay or sporting event tickets, for example. Holding a raffle or a drawing for these items is a good way to get employees involved with the clients in an appropriate way and the cost was minimal, if anything. Drawings are also a good way to inspire a healthy competition amongst employees. Certain activities earn multiple chances to enter a name in a specified drawing, inspiring everyone to do their best. Contests for prizes, such as dinner for two at a local restaurant or a retail store gift certificate, are a good way to motivate employees on a regular basis, say monthly. Each month, the employee(s) who meets a specific goal is awarded a specified prize. Employee giveaways like this promote pride in the job an employee is doing with the prospect of being rewarded for doing so.
Small businesses with few employees may be able to offer more
personalized incentives, since the contact is greater on a daily basis. By demonstrating to employees that a well-respected manager or owner has taken the time to get to know individual employees, as demonstrated by the personal but office-appropriate gift, that supervisor has gained the trust and loyalty of all the employees. Worker will strive to achieve even higher goals because they feel they are understood and valued by management.
Larger corporations may have more trouble deciding on appropriate
employee giveaways, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. These companies may hold multiple prize-drawings to reward more than one person at a time, or they may simply send the same gift to everyone. As long as the gifts are useful or decorative, employees will take pride in receiving the gift and will continue to work hard towards the company’s objectives.
Employee giveaways let workers know that they are appreciated, no
matter how small or large the gift. These tokens of appreciation go a long way towards encouraging employee commitment and positive attitude.
