You will first need to find a supplier of candy bars. Many warehouse supermarkets offer large quantities for a discount. Purchasing a box of 36 candy bars can cost about $12. This works out to approximately 33 cents for each candy bar. From here you can decide on the selling price of your custom candy bars. How much profit do you hope to make? You will want to take into consideration how much time you will spend creating your custom candy bars. Once you have your template set up on your computer, this should take little time.

You will want your custom candy bar wrapper to resemble a regular wrapper. Take notice of the placement of titles, ingredients, and smaller details, such as net weight. Let’s say you are designing a custom candy bar for a new baby announcement. Start with the baby's name. Decide on a font that may look childish or cursive. Place the baby's name in large letters across the front. In the upper left corner add the net weight of the baby. Add a graphic such as a baby block or rocking horse next to the baby's name. You are now done with the front of your custom candy bar wrapper.

Continue to design the back by adding a poem where the ingredients would normally be found. On a baby's custom candy wrapper you may want to add the name of parents, siblings, even mention the grandparents and family pets. Have fun with designing these custom candy wrappers. You may want to add the well known poem, "What are little girls/boys made of." You can even locate a graphic of bar code to add to the bottom. Place a stork graphic on the back of your custom candy to fill in space. Now the most important information, your name or company name along with a phone number. Make it small but use font that is clear enough to read. This will come in handy when customers wish to order more.

Now you are done with the design. Save the custom candy wrapper to the computer and you have a template. With each new order just change the name and graphics accordingly. Designing your first custom candy wrapper is the most time consuming, but after that, it's quick. In this case choose a light pink or pale blue paper for the wrapper. Print out your order and proceed to cut them to size. This can be done easily with a paper cutter. When the cutting is done, wrap the candy with the custom candy wrappers and glue shut with a stroke of a glue stick. You may find it easier to sell them in packs of 36 so you can place them right back into the package you bought the candy bars in.
